Tired of spam? Want to protect yourself from spam? Well, there are three ways to stop spam from filling up your mail box, and growing all mouldy.
The first is to never give you email address out to websites.
The second is, when you have to give an email address, find someone else who will eat your spam for you. I've found a great website called Spam Gourmet. They've offered to eat your spam for you. After you've signed up, you can make up an email address without visiting the website; it will be automatically created as soon as an email arrives in your made up account. But the ...

What follows is a letter to the editor I sent to Adbusters Magazine.
In the article "Science For Sale" (Adbusters #58), Chris Tenove attacks the scientific community, declaring throughout the article that they, the scientists, are unprincipled money hoarders that care nothing for truth or discovery.
Chris goes so far as to say that scientists make silly claims, like how the universe is made up of strings. He compares this with religion, saying that although it's claims are equally fantastic, they are at least understandable. Everyone can understand what we mean when we talk about ...

Basically, polydaemonism is animism: the belief that spirits or gods inhabit specific places or items. I learned about this word in my religion class. Pre-Islamic Arabia was polydaemonistic. When Islam took over, Muhammad also took over certain aspects of this polydaemonism. Specifically, when a good Muslim makes a pilgrimage to Mekkah to worship a big, black, square box (which they call "Ba'aba") they are doing exactly what Arabs had been doing for hundreds of years before Islam was created.
Suddenly, while sitting through this class, it occured to me that the Nintendo game series ...

Here is a letter I wrote the the creationist website Answer In Genesis:
I would like to discuss with you one particlar passage on your website. In the Refuting Evolution: Teacher's Study Guide you have the following (Feb 2005):
CHAPTER 7: Astronomy
Evolution is a philosophy that tries to explain everything without God. Teaching about Evolution presents the prevailing evolutionary view on astronomical origins.
This is not true. Evolution is the theory of how (genetic) characteristics of a population change over generations (or time). Evolution is a sub-field of biology. ...

What follows is an email I sent to a member of the Monarchist League of Canada.
As I have been in correspondence with you before, you may recall that we do not see eye-to-eye on the issue of the Canadian Monarchy. I wish to open a small dialogue with you. At first, I wish to discuss a very specific point with you.
On your page entittled "Arguments for the Maple Crown" (Feb 2005), you say:
Monarchy Or Republic
The Queen of Canada is more democratic than a President of Canada ever could be because she represents all Canadians.
I disagree. The Queen of Canada may represent all ...

-Christina Bibby, web surfer of Harry Potter: A Good or Bad Influence
I want to know how people make opinions. People seem to have opinions about everything. Especially things that don't actually exist. Take my rant about Harry Potter, for example. In it, I say that most criticisms about Harry Potter are unjust. I demonstrate that Harry Potter is good fun, and only pays lip service to the supernatural. I did this because ...

Even if you are opposed to chain mail, this is important.
I recently got an email from my mother. It was titled "Abduction Precautions For Women". It was talking about how to avoid being abducted by serial killers and rapists. This email is next of kin to fear mongering. It is unnecessary, and increases fear for no reason.
When talking about violence and sexual assault against women it is very unlikely that women will be attack by someone that they don't know. The top predictors of being attacked in one way or another is having a husband, father (or step parent), boyfriend, brother, ...

Have you ever tried to argue with a Fan? It doesn't matter what they are a fan of, you just can't do it. If you try to argue with a Star Trek fan, saying there is some inconsistency here, or a plot element that doesn't make sense there, they simply reach back in to their repository of useless information and pull up a reason, or generate one on the spot, to make it all Alright Again.
Of course, it hardly works. Every excuse they drum up usually reveals two more holes. Every time the put their thumb in the dam to hold back the water, two more holes burst forth. What the Fan lacks in ...

Lisa, an American, emailed me wondering the America-bashing she's found on many a Canadian websites:
Hello, I am an American doing an report on Canada. I've looked at a lot of websites for research, and this one is the funniest. One common theme in all of the websites is the American bashing. I'm wondering do Canadian not like Americans? If not why? What do American's do that is so bad?
Canadians do not hate America, or Americans.
Canadians do make fun of Americans. We make fun of Americans a lot. In fact, America is the second most common thing for Canadians to make fun of. You ...
